Boon Siew Honda Sdn Bhd has launched the new Honda icon for the automatic transmission (AT), the latest hot sensation of the Brand New “Joyride”. 2011 Honda Icon 110 AT has been facelifted for better looks and better design.

The wheels are now in white colour for all the model body colour. The footrest has been widened for better foot placement. Decals sticker also gets a new look. Honda Icon JOYRIDE price tag at RM4,688 (on the road), more than 1,000 units of the icon have been registered since being made available for the local market last Feb 5.

The second AT embarked by Honda for the local market after the Honda Click, the icon was engineered  through the combination of a new engine, light-weight body and compact size. To further ease handling, the icon’s centre of gravity was lowered.

Honda claims that users will enjoy an eight per cent increase in fuel efficiency compared with other models of the same genre. Key features in the Honda icon include a parking brake, anti-theft shutter key system and side stand engine kill-switch. Offering a smooth ride, the icon handled well at corners, and the brakes provided ample straight-line stopping power with its dual-calliper front disc. Good road feedback was received from its 14-inch wheels fitted at the end of telescopic front forks with 83mm trail, enabling the bike to iron out road bumps and irregularities.

The Honda icon available in five colours – pearl angel pink, euphoria red, metallic vital blue, pearl megellanic black and pearl fadeless white comes with a two-year or 20,000km warranty, a first in Malaysia. The bike, which is also made available in Thailand bearing the same name, is powered by a 108cc 4-stroke air-cooled engine with v-matic AT, and a v-belt final drive. Dubbed as the new Joyride by Honda, the icon delivers smooth pulling power from its torquey engine, easily reaching highway cruising speed even with a rider heavier than its own curb-weight of 89.2kg.
