T-MOBILE GARMINFONE NEW GPS 3G SMARTPHONE
Looking for a mobile handset that combines the desirable status of a smartphone with the secure dependence of leading navigational software? If so, you may want to take a moment to peruse the finer points of T-Mobile’s new Garminfone. T-Mobile and Garmin have announced that T-Mobile will be the exclusive provider for the new Garminfone. The Garminfone is a premium GPS navigation phone that offers 3G connectivity and a touch screen.

Expect a 3 megapixel autofocus cam, microSD expansion up to 32GB, WiFi, and full HSPA alongside Garmin’s own flavor of Android (currently based on 1.6, we believe) that emphasizes its nuvi-esque navigation capabilities on a 3.5-inch HVGA display. As you might expect, it’ll come bundled with a charging dash / windshield mount. The device has apps installed to find lowest gas prices, movie listings and more near you. The handset runs Android and is expected to arrive in T-Mobile stores this spring.

With more and more people relying on their smartphones and mobile phones for uses other than just making calls and surfing the web, the devices are gaining popularity quickly. One of the things that many users have replaced with mobile phones is a dedicated PND thanks to the applications available for GPS navigation on mobiles

Arriving as the first Android-powered smartphone device to come complete with Garmin’s premium navigation experience, the Garminfone also boasts a spacious 3.5-inch HVGA display (capacitive), a full touch-based user interface, a 3.0 mega-pixel camera, Wi-Fi and HSPA connectivity, Bluetooth 2.1, and microSD for up to 32GBs of storage.

“The Garminfone brings together two increasingly popular device in one state-of-the-art package, delivering a rich, unique experience that no other smartphone or standalone navigation device can offer,” enthused George Harrison, vice president of marketing product innovation at T-Mobile USA.

The handset also carries an in-car charger mount for a more complete Garmin feel, along with a full HTML Web browser, built-in mini USB, integrated Google services, Garmin Voice Studio, and pre-loaded North America maps (inc. almost six million points of interest).

The Garminfone from T-Mobile USA is expected to find its way onto retail shelves before the end of spring. Prices have not yet been confirmed.
