Sony Ericsson have officially announced their flagship touchscreen cellphone, the Satio.  Formerly known as the Idou, the Sony Ericsson Satio features a 3.5-inch 16:9 widescreen resistive touchscreen, quadband GSM and UMTS, together with GPS and WiFi.  There’s also a 12.1-megapixel camera with autofocus, face-detection, geotagging, an image stabilizer and Xenon flash for best cameraphone.

Coming in the next quarter of 2009, is Sony’s one of the three new launches in the mobile phone category. The cell phone from Sony named as Satio which was formerly named Idou that was introduced in Barcelona. Sony Ericsson Satio is expected to tumble the market share of Apple’s iPhone.

The Sony Satio is expected to become leader in the segment of camera phone category as it comes with a whopping high 12.1 megapixel camera, Xenon flash and a touch screen keypad. This Smart phone will be available in colors of Black, Bordeaux and Silver.

Sony Satio will run on operating system of Symbian S60 5th edition, and you can play high-definition games on the 3.5-inch widescreen with no difficulty. Gaming experience merged with better communication is what Satio promises to make your life more exciting. In fact, the cameras of Satio have a digital zoom, image stabilization and face detection software and can geotag the pictures photos as well.

The touchscreen runs at 640 x 350 resolution, ideal for showing off photos and video content, and under the hood the Satio runs S60 5th edition.  Google Maps is preloaded, as is a Facebook client, YouTube viewer and full internet browser, and there’s an on-screen full-sized landscape keyboard, a compact mini-QWERTY, T9 and handwriting recognition.

The Sony Ericsson Satio will launch in October, in three colors: black, silver and bordeaux.  No word on pricing, but don’t expect it to be a cheap handset
