Kyocera Echo is a dual screen Android smartphone will be available from Sprint from the 17th of April  using Android 2.2 Froyo and features two displays which can either act as one large display or two independent displays. A smartphone or like a mini-tablet via a patented hinge and software, the Kyocera Echo, brings a new experience to smartphone people. Running Android™ 2.2 on a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and 1GB of onboard memory with the ability to upgrade via microSD (sold separately) to up 32GB. The Echo is a unique handset design in the market.


Through the use of VueQue™ and Simul-Task™ mode, the user can use the dual screens as two separate screens. One can be used to surf the web as the other can be used for something completely different.  The Kyocera Echo features two 3.5 inch WVGA displays, which are connected with a pivot hinge that allows you to use the displays in a number of different ways, it also comes with 3G, Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR, WiFi, a microSD card slot with an 8GB card included, this can be expanded to a 32GB microSD card.

With Tablet mode the user can convert a 3.5-inch display into a 4.7-inch tablet like touch display.  Kyocera includes customized software that has been optimized for two screen use. Infact when turning the handset horizontally the user can view email while using the bottom portion as a virtual keyboard. Other specifications include a digital compass, GPS, an accelerometer, proximity sensor and a light sensor. A spare battery also comes with the gadget. Sprint is currently the network of choice for this device and offers specials for customers inclined to purchase the smartphone with a two year contract and additional data packages.

The Kyocera Echo will have access to over 100,000 apps, from Angry Birds to Facebook. The device will also include WiFi hotspot ability to support up to five WiFi capable devices. A 5mp digital camera with  flash, autofocus, and zoom, there is also a 720p HD capable camcorder to record events as they happen. Pricing wise the Kyocera Echo will set you back $199 after a $100 mail in rebate and with a new two year contract with Sprint. It features:
