NEW AFFORDABLE CELCOM MOBILE BROADBAND MONTHLY PRICE
Celcom Axiata Bhd has launching the Celcom new broadband package as government’s call to make broadband services more affordable to Malaysians with the National Broadband Plan. The Celcom mobile broadband  prices  has been lowered to as low as RM48 per month from RM68 per month before.

Celcom’s mobile broadband offerings are divided into three packages, namely Entry, Basic and Advance with various speeds and Fair Usage Policy (FUP) limits.

*The Celcom’s mobile broadband Entry package costs RM48 per month with maximum speed of up to 384Kbps and 1GB FUP limit.

*The Celcom’s mobile broadband Basic plan is priced at RM68 with up to 512Kbps speed and 3GB FUP limit

*The Celcom’s mobile broadband Advance package is available for RM98 a month with up to 3.6Mbps connection speed and 5GB FUP limit.

Celcom is offering the first three months RM10 discount off the monthly bill to those who sign up for any of the packages before Aug 31. Registration costs RM100 and customers will get a free USB modem as part of the deal. There are no contracts attached to either of the packages.

In terms of exceeding the FUP limit, customers are given two options – Celcom will either throttle down the connection speed to 128Kbps for that particular month or users can purchase additional volume at RM15 for 1GB and RM50 for 5GB.

Cheaper Celcom broadband packages for the masses

KUALA LUMPUR: Heeding the Government’s call to make broadband services more affordable to Malaysians, Celcom Axiata Bhd has lowered the prices of its mobile broadband offerings to as low as RM48 per month.

Previously, the company’s entry-level package was priced at RM68 per month, said Celcom Axiata Bhd broadband and special projects director, Jefri Ahmad Tambi.

“We hope that this further lowering of the entry barrier will increase the country’s broadband penetration rate in line with the National Broadband Plan,” he said.

Celcom’s mobile broadband offerings are divided into three packages, namely Entry, Basic and Advance with various speeds and Fair Usage Policy (FUP) limits.

The Entry package costs RM48 per month with maximum speed of up to 384Kbps and 1GB FUP limit. The Basic plan is priced at RM68 with up to 512Kbps speed and 3GB FUP limit while the Advance package is available for RM98 a month with up to 3.6Mbps connection speed and 5GB FUP limit.

To encourage more take-up, Celcom is offering a RM10 discount off the monthly bill for the first three months to those who sign up for any of the packages before Aug 31.

Registration costs RM100 and customers will get a free USB modem as part of the deal. There are no contracts attached to either of the packages, the company said.

In terms of exceeding the FUP limit, customers are given two options – Celcom will either throttle down the connection speed to 128Kbps for that particular month or users can purchase additional volume at RM15 for 1GB and RM50 for 5GB.

According to Jefri, Celcom is committed to constantly improve its broadband services to meet customers’ demands.

Among others, it will continually upgrade its network coverage and capacity, fiberisation of key nodes, local caching with Akamai and Google to improve search as well as building new IP Transit nodes in Sarawak.

“We are now at 75% mobile broadband coverage and we expect to increase that to 80% by 2011,” he said.

-RM38 per month is only for 3 month. After that normal price will be RM48.
-RM48 is only for 1GB bandwidth. WTF?
-Bandwith for RM68 package reduced from 5GB to 3GB. WTF?
-Price for additional bandwidth INCREASED from RM5 per 1GB to RM15 per 1GB. THat’s 200% insane increment!!! WTF?
