PETALING JAYA: About 300 Harley-Davidson bikers from at least 11 countries will be roaming the country’s highways from June 4 to 11 in the first and largest Southeast Asia Harley’s Owner Group (SEA HOG) Rally.

President and chapter director of the HOG Malaysia Chapter Choo Kai Mun said Tuesday that they would conduct a fundraising activity during the rally.

Choo said that in the past seven national rallies, Harley owners managed to contribute huge sums to charities in the country, including orphanages, the breast cancer foundation and the Sultanah Bahiyah Foundation in Kedah.

In the Malaysia National Rally last year, they managed to raise RM43,000 while more than RM70,000 was collected in 2008 for orphanages in Sabah.

The participants would be coming from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Brunei, United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Macau and South Korea, Choo told a news conference at the Harley-Davidson Kuala Lumpur (HDKL) showroom here. The convoy will kick off from here, heading south to Singapore to join the Singapore chapter of HOGs before regrouping and making their way back to Kuala Lumpur the following day.

They will later spend two days in the city for the Harley-Davidson Festival, including the official opening of HDKL’s lifestyle boutique at the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC), before moving up north to the Thai-Malaysia border and proceeding to Krabi via Hatyai.
